ASSE 1 “RICERCA, SVILUPPO TECNOLOGICO E INNOVAZIONE”

REQUEST ID: 10006229

TITOLO PROGETTO: “Brakediam” Sviluppo di un disco frenante composito in lega di diamante a basso impatto ambientale.

The project has been awarded of a contribution of € 108,000.00 granted under the POR FESR 2014 - 2020 program for the acquisition of a new waterjet plant, technical-scientific advice for the development of processing processes of the diamond and the lease of work premises in order to consolidate the activity of the Innovative Start Up Ferdiam Srl

BRAKEDIAM: A REVOLUTIONARY BRAKING DISK

BrakeDiam is a project developed and patented by Ferdiam S.r.l. in collaboration with Dellas S.p.a. with the objective to create an innovative braking disk wherein the surface and/or the friction portion is made of a composite material comprising diamond particles. Combined with specific pads, BrakeDiam reaches new standards in terms of performance and lifetime.

BETTER PERFORMANCE

The diamond has a high coefficient of thermal conductivity: 1600 W · m-1 · K-1. The high capacity to dissipate heat allows to have a smaller disc dimension, significantly lowering the overall weight of the braking system.

INCREASE LIFETIME AND LESS MAINTENANCE

The diamond is well known as the hardest material in the world, consequently the wear of a BrakeDiam disc is extremely limited. This is useful for extending the life of the braking disc and reduce the frequency of maintenance.

ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY

The creation of a highly wear-resistant disc has a strong ecological and environmental impact because it reduces the production of micrometric particulates emissions generated during the braking action.
